Nelson & Wallery, Ltd. was founded in 1991 by Dan Wallery and Sheree Nelson after several years of experience with a Big 6 accounting firm. Our company was conceived as a CPA firm specializing in valuation and property tax consulting and was based in downtown Chicago, Illinois.

During the early years, our clientele consisted of manufacturers, insurance companies, banks, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, independent living facilities, retirement communities and Continuing Care Retirement Communities. We literally traveled throughout the country inspecting properties and negotiating tax assessments.

In 1996, the Internet was growing in popularity and we decided our business should ride the wave. Based on our experience in the senior housing industry, we saw an opportunity to connect providers with families seeking information about senior care for a loved one. Our idea was to create nationwide online directories of nursing homes and assisted living facilities available for free to consumers and funded by nominal advertising fees paid by providers. The directories were NursingHomeINFO.com and AssistedLivingINFO.com. At the time we had a unique idea and very little competition. In many ways we were ahead of the curve since very few senior living businesses were online at the time.

In 1997, the business moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, home of Sheree Nelson's alma mater. For more than a decade we operated both the property tax consulting business and the Internet business. In 2009, the online directories were sold to SeniorLiving.net, and have since been acquired by publically-traded RealPages. Since that time we have continued to serve the senior housing industry as Internet marketing and property tax consultants.
